Phase 3 – Classroom Presentations

  • The presentations are a follow–up program that occurs shortly after the school assembly (within 1 to 2 weeks)
  • The presentations are done in individual classrooms purposefully scheduled to reach every student (i.e. every social studies class or every English class)
  • Trained Unite 4 Life volunteer speakers from your own community lead students through the 90 minute curriculum.
    • Two 45 minute presentations on consecutive days or
    • One 90 minute presentation done in one day
  • The presentations are interactive, discussion–based, and evidence–based
    • Through discussions and role–playing, information from the assembly is reviewed. Students are given the opportunity to ’practice’ what to do if they or a friend shows any of the warning signs of depression or suicide.
  • The entire presentation has been translated into Spanish and we have Spanish speaking presenters
  • Goals for the presentation are to equip every student:

    • to see warning signs in themselves and in their friends
    • to know how to get help for themselves and their friends
    • to create an atmosphere where everyone can receive the help that they need
