The presentations are a follow–up program that occurs shortly after the school assembly (within 1 to 2 weeks)
The presentations are done in individual classrooms purposefully scheduled to reach every student (i.e. every social studies class or every English class)
Trained Unite 4 Life volunteer speakers from your own community lead students through the 90 minute curriculum.
Two 45 minute presentations on consecutive days or
One 90 minute presentation done in one day
The presentations are interactive, discussion–based, and evidence–based
Through discussions and role–playing, information from the assembly is reviewed. Students are given the opportunity to ’practice’ what to do if they or a friend shows any of the warning signs of depression or suicide.
The entire presentation has been translated into Spanish and we have Spanish speaking presenters
Goals for the presentation are to equip every student:
to see warning signs in themselves and in their friends
to know how to get help for themselves and their friends
to create an atmosphere where everyone can receive the help that they need
