Mentor
The number one resiliency factor in young people is their connection to adults. The more adults a student is personally connected with, the more they will be able to persevere through difficult seasons in their lives.
Description:
- As a mentor, you will have the opportunity to develop a one–on–one relationship with a hurting student and be that adult connection for them.
- Your role as a mentor can take on many facets: a guide, an encourager, a shoulder to cry on, a teacher, a role model, and so much more.
- Your goal is to invest time into the student and walk with them through this confusing time of adolescence.
- The mentoring relationship might be short–term as they go through a specific season or long–term as you develop a deep relationship with a student that lasts beyond their teenage years.
Talents/Abilities:
- Able to share unconditional love with a student
- Excel in one–on–one environments
Time Commitment:
- Spend 2 hours a week with the student during a scheduled meeting time
- Be available regularly via phone or email for that student to connect with (within certain boundaries, of course)
